At the dawning of the modern age, the French Philosopher François Voltaire expressed the certainty that humans were meant to live together in a society and the gift of society to each of us is the ability to develop a sense of Justice.
The present world society have integrated together people from various social, cultural and economic backgrounds, due to the dynamics of this integration some societies have advanced and developed with powerful elaborate judicial structure, these have made it possible to put into checks corrupt governments, institute some social orders and economic growth have been achieved। The modern society have emerged as developed world, under developing world and pathetically the Third world.
This social stratification have suppressed and denied other societies the right to free society. The rampaging level of poverty, lack of modern health services, corrupted government leaders by the rich west, civil war machinery funded by interested western government are just some of the evils operating forces in third world.
The impact and consequence of these crude, uncivilized enemies against other societies have not spared our beloved country Kenya. The onset of the British Empire of her majesty the queen encroached Kenya in the eighteenth century. They illegally acquired the best fertile agricultural land traditionally referred to as The White Highlands!! This came at a time when the industrial revolution in England was demanding raw materials.
To stabilize the British protectorate colony, punitive draconian rules were unleashed, a form of discriminatory government was put in place, the local community was subjected into forced unpaid labor, apartheid travel movement restrictions was introduced, killing of innocent people, rape of young African virgins, imprisonment of people without proper representation and justice denied due to color and race. This injustice brought the mau mau uprising movement from 1952-1962 demanding the white man to return to England, the country gained self-independent rule as a republic in 1963.
We may not have the forum to address the present social problems facing Kenya, after 45 years of this leadership, the political arena looks horrible and diver stating, the country if faced with poverty 95%, rising unemployment 34%, increasing growth of corrupt government institutions, the police force with 39%, the judiciary with 26%, the Kenya revenues authority 14%y, the city and municipal councils with9 % morally selfish corrupted electoral commission, rigging of elections. Poor governance, lack of quality leaders in the august house just but to mention a few. The desire for change is increasing gaining momentum.
The above social profile can not be pushed side and left for nature to take it’s own course, sturdy from developed societies like Japan, Britain, Germany, Canada and United States would lead us to this question- how Did they over come those evils? The current breed of political leadership in Kenya is focused on who will be the next president? The taxpayer maintains this busybodies to the tune of 2B in salary and allowances while the poor common person sleep with empty stomach, the very next question is. Is it worthy to keep and sustain this self styled leadership?
The then new national rainbow coalition promise to bring change was an illusion. They enacted the toothless anti-corruption and economic crimes act and public officers ethnic acts in may 2003, although some of this reforms especially at judicially, the public procurement have led to the unlocking of donor aids. In November 2003 following the adoption of key anti –corruption laws and other reforms by new government donors reengaged as IMF approved $250 millions for the poverty reduction and growth facility
The privatization bill has been enacted although setting up of privatization commission is yet to be finalized. We hope that some of this reforms will help maintain sound macroeconomic policies and speed up the rapidly accelerating economic growth which is projected to grow at 7.2% 2007
In 2007 the Kenya government unveiled a Vision 2030 which is a very ambitious economic blue print and which if implemented in its entirety has the potential of putting the country in to same league as Asian economic TIGERS, however all this economic projections now hang in the balance following the political uncertainty occasioned by the aftermath of 2007 disputed presidential polls which left the country economically dented
We have been receiving mails from interested groups on the urgent need to form a social movement. It will discuss some issues and matters affecting Kenyans at home and back home, we need an international; platform that can intervene and save the poor suffering people. We have our people scattered across the globe as immigrants, in business, in affluent collages/universities, church organizations and other form of groupings
To address these issues we have created a forum where you would advice us on the following lines of approach: -
· How do we set up the goals for this new Jamuhuri members club?
· The method to discuss the issues, problems and matters affecting us, by E-mails, newsletters, blogs, conferences, business meetings. Election of leadership-democracy, appointment or dictatorship?
· Our need to have a liaison office back home that will connect the two words, send our question from the government and bridge the vacuum gap, is some one listening over there!!!!
· How to recruit members into this club and the terms and conditions? Membership fees or free!!!
· Any other opinion, suggestions, or matters that you would propose for our attention
We would like to hear from you and your contribution will be warmly appreciated. We will keep you posted on the current situation and any new development by the E-mail account that you will provide during registration
